Marcello Lippi feels that Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi is “underrated” and one of the top Italian coaches along with Antonio Conte.
The 2006 World Cup winning coach gave his thoughts on the two coaches on Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews.
Inter coach Simone Inzaghi has certainly enjoyed a memorable coaching career so far.
The 48-year-old got his start with Lazio, where he had previously played as a striker.
Inzaghi coached the Biancocelesti at various youth team levels. Then, in 2016, he took over the senior team.
And Inzaghi has never looked back from there.
Inzaghi guided Lazio to the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana trophies. He also secured Champions League qualification, and even a place in the knockout rounds.
In 2021, Simone Inzaghi earned a move to Inter Milan.
It has not exactly been all smooth sailing for the former Lazio coach at the San Siro.
The Nerazzurri job has put more pressure to constantly win and to fight for trophies on Inzaghi’s shoulders. And sometimes, the 48-year-old has had to learn from trial and error.
But so far, Inzaghi has managed to bring home six pieces of silverware with Inter.
The Nerazzurri have won the Serie A title, the Coppa Italia twice, and the Supercoppa Italiana on three occasions. They have won a trophy in each of Inzaghi’s three seasons to date.

Meanwhile, Inter also reached the Champions League final during the 2022-23 season.
This season, Inter also have the chance to win even more silverware, as they are still very much in the hunt for several more trophies.
In Serie A, however, Inzaghi and Inter have a familiar face standing in their way. Currently former Nerazzurri, Chelsea, and Juventus coach Antonio Conte has Napoli ahead of Inter in the table.
Former Juventus and Italy coach Marcello Lippi said of Conte that “You can’t say Antonio doesn’t have quality.”
“I see a bit of myself in his character.”
Lippi said that Conte and Napoli “can compete for” the Serie A title this season.
And as far as the best Italian coach right now, Lippi said that “There are two or three.”
“Inzaghi is one, and then Conte is another.”
“Inzaghi might be a bit underrated,” Lippi said. “Although it seems like he’s become well-regarded.”
“When you get so many good results, you gain conviction and self-confidence, and personality. That’s important.”
