Most of the time, FC Barcelona are reliant on their own homegrown prodigies to deliver on the biggest stage. That is simply how competitive and well-drilled their youngsters are, and they have always been fighting with the dream of representing the first team. However, on some occasions, Barcelona have also ended up securing outstanding talents from other clubs.
The most recent example of this would be Pau Victor, who was a player for Girona before Barcelona ended up signing him following his impressive loan at the club in the subsidiary. However, he was definitely far from being the first signing of his kind, and he will not be the last either.
Over at UD Las Palmas, there remains a young attacking player by the name of Alberto Moleiro. Now aged 21, he was previously linked to a move to Barcelona as well and it was reported that a meeting between the club and his representatives even took place at a point in time.
Most recently, however, the youngster has spoken about his own aspirations moving forward and has specifically mentioned Barcelona as a destination where he would like to end up at some point in his career, as quoted by FCB World:
“I am very happy at Las Palmas and not thinking about leaving, but in the future, I hope to be at a big club like Barcelona.”
Being among the standout performers and players at UD Las Palmas, the youngster has been doing well in La Liga this season. His performances will likely not go unnoticed, and given that he managed to catch the eye of Barcelona before, there is no telling what the future holds for him.
However, he also spoke about Pedri, a fellow youth graduate who also used to play with him at Las Palmas, and how he is happy that the Barcelona star has been playing well and seems to have overcome his injury issues:
“I am very happy for Pedri. Honestly, it’s a joy to watch him play at this level after the injuries he went through. I believe he struggled with injuries, but in the end, football is about recovery and living in the present. Right now, he’s in a great moment, and I am very happy for him.”
It remains to be seen if anything between him and Barcelona can end up happening in the future, but things seem rather quiet on that end for now. The player himself is focused on his team, while the Catalan giants already have several talented midfielders who already occupy the role that Moleiro plays.
