They really have fully bought into the victim mentality with match officials yet again to blame for their footballing misfortunes..

After the high of beating Celtic, theRangers hilariously followed it up by dropping yet more points, and even more predictably it was the fault of someone else.

Dead rubber highlight of the season

Last Thursday afternoon was the big highlight of the Ibrox club’s campaign as they defeated Celtic in a convincing victory, granted the pressure was off, but it was a decent win and performance all the same. Brendan Rodgers subsequently admitted that his players were perhaps affected by the 14 points advantage Celtic took into the New Year fixture at Ibrox and as a result lacked the necessary intensity.

Not actually saying it was after all a dead rubber but it did lead to a three day title challenge which bit the dust on the soaked Easter Road pitch on Sunday afternoon.

Even after Dead Rubber win they had a pop at the referee

As they lapped up their dead rubber victory that had the entire world talking, they still couldn’t help themselves by having a pop at the match officials over claims of ‘bias’ which is quite frankly ridiculous and totally fabricated nonsense. It seems to be a recurring theme under the leadership of Philippe Clement and it seems even in victory they like to play the victim card.

After defeating Celtic they headed to Easter Road to take on Hibs full of confidence and went 2-0 up early on as they carried on the good form they showed in the dead rubber Glasgow Derby.

It all went horribly wrong at Easter Road

It all went horribly (or from our point of view hilariously) wrong however as the Edinburgh clawed back a point as the game finished 3-3. A mixture of arrogance and bad decision making was the main reason for throwing away the points, but yet again Clement refused to blame his players and instead predictably pointed the finger at the match officials. Clement claims that the penalty awarded to Hibs can never be a penalty despite the blatant push in the back from Hagi. Here’s the best view of it, make your own mind up.

If you were to believe Clement and theRangers supporters it wasn’t their fault that they lost the league cup final, in the same way it wasn’t their fault that they lost to St Mirren in Paisley or dropped points at Fir Park and Easter Road.

Celtic’s 3-0 win over St Mirren meant that the gap increased to 13 points on theRangers with early title hopefully Aberdeen in free fall after their bubble burst at Hampden in the Premier Sports Cup semi-final against Celtic. Dundee United are now up to third.

Under Clement theRangers have fully bought into this victim mentality and while it’s quite tragic, it’s still amusing all the same. Apparently they have not had a penalty all season. This VAR thing seems to be playing havoc with the old ‘Honest Mistake’ strategy.  Long may it continue.

Just an Ordinary Bhoy
