Nadiem Amiri has been one of Mainz’s standout performers this season, helping the club finish sixth and secure a spot in the UEFA Conference League.
His impressive performances in midfield have reportedly sparked interest from other clubs - most notably Borussia Dortmund.
Following Saturday’s 2-2 draw with his former side Bayer Leverkusen, Amiri remained tight-lipped about his future.
“I’m going on vacation now, and then we’ll see,” he said in a post-match interview.
Amiri expressed his joy after Mainz qualified for European competition for the first time in nine years. Overcome with emotion, he shed tears while holding his son after the final whistle.
“I’m very emotional,” he admitted.
Since joining Mainz from Leverkusen in early 2024, where he struggled for playing time, Amiri quickly established himself as a key player for Mainz.
“At that point, no one was really talking about me anymore,” said the 28-year-old, who earned a recall to the German national team in March after nearly four years away.
Amiri is under contract with Mainz until the summer of 2028.
