However, he had to withdraw from the team due to a “knock” he suffered while playing for United.

The Albiceleste sent him back to England for further assessment. It’s believed that Martinez picked up the issue during the club’s 3-0 win over Leicester City last weekend.

He was on the pitch for all 90 minutes including added time, despite needing treatment in the second half after colliding with an opponent.

A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Martinez was examined by Argentina’s medical staff, who discovered he was dealing with pain that rendered him unable to “function normally.”

Scaloni has now given more information on this matter. He said [via Manchester Evening News], “We didn’t expect the case of Lisandro.”

“We saw that he had suffered a blow to his back, but apparently, he had no problem, just pain.”

“When he arrived here, the pain increased a bit, he underwent tests and is not fit to be here.”

Martinez has started 10 of the Red Devils’ 11 Premier League games this term and will certainly be hoping to be fully fit and available for Ruben Amorim’s first match against Kieran McKenna’s Ipswich Town on November 24.

United have been without Leny Yoro and Harry Maguire for a number of weeks now and can’t afford to lose another centre-back.

However, it’s believed that Yoro is close to making his return to action, with the Frenchman set for a big role under Amorim.
