Nerazzurri captain Lautaro Martinez could break yet another goal record in Sunday’s Serie A clash between Juventus and Inter Milan.
Today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, note that the 27-year-old could become the first non-Italian player to hit double digits in six different Serie A seasons for Inter.
Inter captain Lautaro Martinez is currently on nine goals for the season in Serie A.
It would be fair to say that this has not been the Argentine’s most prolific league campaign.
But even so, Martinez is getting close to hitting double figures for the season.
Martinez had had a slow start to the campaign. Lacking a proper preseason, there was initially a noticeable lack of fitness.
And then in the autumn, there was a goal drought of nearly two months as the Nerazzurri captain missed a slew of good chances.
However, Lautaro Martinez has been at something like his best since the turn of the year.
The 27-year-old has taken his goal total in Serie A to nine for the season.

That means that with one more goal, it will be double digits for Martinez.
The Argentine has hit double digits in Serie A in each of the last five seasons in an Inter shirt.
If and when Martinez makes it ten for this campaign, he will become the first foreign-born player to hit double digits in Serie A for Inter.
Naturally, Inter and Martinez will be hoping that this comes as soon as Sunday’s Derby d’Italia clash with Juventus.
