Liverpool came from behind to secure a 1-1 draw against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Tuesday night in the Premier League.
Diogo Jota and Kostas Tsimikas were introduced in the second half, and the duo combined to get the equaliser within 23 seconds after they entered the pitch.
The Reds are still six points clear at the top of the table with a game in hand. They will face Brentford next away from home, and it’s going to be another tough game.
Arne Slot should start with Tsimikas for the next game and drop Andy Robertson.
Regular observers of Liverpool matches will have seen that Robertson has performed below par this season. He has been an amazing servant for the club over the years, but for some reason, he hasn’t been hitting the heights we all know he is capable of.
Robertson managed two accurate crosses all game, and he attempted as many as eight. The Scottish defender still has plenty to offer, but it makes sense for Slot to use him from the bench for the next few games.
Tsimikas, who is on £75k-per-week wages at Liverpool, has started in only two Premier League games this season, but he has impressed whenever he got an opportunity.
Liverpool were brilliant in the second half, and they created some very good chances from the left-hand side.
It would be ridiculous to say that Robertson is struggling in Slot’s system, but it gives an impression that the Scottish defender was more at home under Jurgen Klopp.
Robertson brings relentless energy, and that is why he was more effective in Klopp’s high-octane football. Slot tries to bring more balance and control to the side, and Tsimikas has reacted better to the methods.
His confidence will be high after getting an assist for Jota’s goal, and the Greek star deserves to start in the next game.
