Arsenal and Liverpool are on red alert as Viktor Gyokeres prepares for a major career leap, with A Bola claiming the striker ‘dreams’ of a move to the Premier League.
The Swedish centre-forward has been in sensational form for Sporting CP over the past couple of years but looks set to make a high-profile move this summer.
If he gets his big-money exit, it would drop the curtain on a highly successful two-year spell with the Portuguese champions.
Gyokeres is reportedly keen to take on a new challenge elsewhere, and Sporting are open to cashing in on their prized asset.
The Portuguese club were initially reluctant to negotiate his €100 million (£84m) release clause during the January transfer window.
However, they appear to have softened their stance amid reports claiming they’ll consider bids in the region of €65-75m (£55-63m) this summer.
The 26-year-old striker has been nothing short of phenomenal this season, netting 39 goals in 40 games across all competitions.
His performances in the Champions League has also caught the attention of potential suitors, with the Swedish striker netting six times in eight games.
Gyokeres is considered one of the most lethal finishers in Europe at the moment and a number of clubs are lining up to lure him away from Sporting this summer.
However, the striker has reportedly made his preference clear. He wants a move to the Premier League, putting the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United, and Chelsea on red alert.
Manchester City is also one of his preferred destinations, but a move to the Etihad Stadium is unrealistic, considering he’d likely be forced to play back up to Erling Braut Haaland.
Outside of England, only a handful of elite clubs such as Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-German are considered viable alternatives.
