Paris Saint-Germain may be in the market for a new sporting director come the summer. Luís Campos’ contract with PSG is up in the summer, and whilst talks over a renewal are ongoing, it is not a given that they will lead to an agreement. There is currently a disagreement over the finances of the deal and the situation is the source of tension at the Ligue 1 side. L’Équipe understands that the result of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie against Liverpool may prove decisive. Should Les Parisiens lose, Campos’ time at the Parc des Princes could come to an end in a couple of month’s time.
As per L’Équipe, former Atletico Madrid sporting director Andrea Berta had been considered the main target in the event of Campos’ departure, with some sources even evoking talks between the Italian and Nasser Al-Khelaifi. However, Arsenal could be about to put a spanner in the works.
Fabrizio Romano understands that Berta is the top target to replace Edu at Arsenal. The latter is leaving the Premier League side at the end of the season. Discussions have already taken place and are currently at an advanced stage, although there is not yet any agreement between Arsenal and Berta.
