Mikel Arteta’s side will continue their season after a winter break against the Foxes, but they have suffered an unexpected setback.

Journalist Sami Mokbel claims Kai Havertz suffered an injury scare during the club’s training camp in Dubai.

The full diagnosis is unconfirmed, but the German reportedly has a hamstring-related issue.

Havertz’s absence would be a massive blow for Arsenal

The Gunners were fancied to sign a new forward this winter after injuries to Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus in a short space of time.

The club made a late approach for Ollie Watkins. However, Aston Villa rejected their offer, which was less than £45 million.

Arsenal ended up without pursuing an alternative. The decision is now expected to prove costly with an untimely injury blow for Havertz.

The German has been guilty of missing clear-cut chances this campaign, but he has still impressed with 15 goals and five assists in all competitions.

Despite his inconsistent form, the 25-year-old is clearly the club’s best source of goals, and his absence would represent a major setback.

Arsenal should provide an update on Havertz soon. The team are flying back to London tonight. He could be assessed in the next 24 hours.

If he were to be sidelined, manager Mikel Arteta may have to play Leandro Trossard as a false number nine over the forthcoming matches.
