FC Barcelona have had their fair share of issues this season, and they have had to deal with them due to pre-existing conditions. Unfortunately, that still means that the Catalan club continues to struggle in some regards. The most notable of those problems, however, was likely the most recent registration dilemma.
Two of the club’s summer signings, Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor, had been unregistered by La Liga due to Barça’s inability to generate or present the required FFP to keep them registered. However, Barcelona argued that the documents had already been submitted by the club and that the league’s technical delays caused the issue at hand.
Now, with the latest ruling from the Spanish Sports Council (CSD), Barcelona have received a favorable precautionary outcome and both players have temporarily been registered with La Liga once again. Unfortunately, however, other teams from the Spanish First Division do not seem happy about this.
As highlighted by AS, Atletico Madrid is one of those sides and the Madrid-based club has even released an official statement that looks to challenge this recent decision and stated that the club has expressed a ‘deep concern’ over this matter involving CSD and Barcelona.
In their official statement, Atletico Madrid highlighted that the resolution made by the CSD has been harmful to the regulations of La Liga:
“Our club, like all LaLiga members until this resolution, has been complying with the rules of economic control and we will continue to respect them. In fact, in order to be able to compete at the level we have been competing at in recent years, we have decided to carry out various capital increases, despite the enormous effort that this entails.”
“This government intervention creates a very dangerous precedent, as it opens the door to circumventing the rules and repeating the serious mistakes of the past. Atlético de Madrid remains committed to rigor and responsible management. Without clear and equal rules for all, no fair competition is possible.”

Furthermore, without directly naming FC Barcelona, the statement went on to imply that this decision benefits only one side while the others have been complying with the rules and establishments of La Liga and its economic regulations:
Ultimately, this official statement could end up creating a rift between FC Barcelona and the Madrid-based club. For now, however, CSD’s ruling has allowed the Catalan club to register both players and they are set to be available for Hansi Flick in the upcoming Spanish Super Cup final against Real Madrid.
