Barcelona have had quite the rollercoaster ride this season under the leadership of new coach Hansi Flick.

The club started the season extraordinarily well before falling off the grid during the last few months of 2024. However, Barça have once again started 2025 with a bang.

The Catalans notably secured their 15th Spanish Super Cup title by beating Real Madrid. Thanks to a solid early start to 2025, there is a positive feeling in the Barcelona camp, which has helped ease the pressure on Flick.

Barcelona consider Flick renewal

According to Diario SPORT, Barcelona are delighted with the progress the club have made under Flick and are keen on securing his long-term future in Catalonia.

Although neither Flick nor Barcelona are interested in talking about the German’s future during the course of the campaign, the club are clear about their desire to extend his contract.

Barcelona are expected to begin negotiations at the end of the season. Hence, sometime around June, the two parties delve into active talks.

Flick, for his part, is keen on continuing at Barcelona. His agent Pini Zahavi is also quite close to Joan Laporta and has always made things easy in the past for the club.

The Catalans understand that Flick, whose contract expires in 2026, had joined the club by taking a solid pay cut.

As such, the club believe it is only fair that they improve the German’s salary in the new contract, even though Flick’s camp is yet to demand the same.

Overall, Flick and Barcelona appear to be in good stead and it won’t be surprising to see these two parties reach an agreement next summer.
