Vitor Roque has been the subject of significant transfer speculation in recent weeks, with Barcelona hoping to secure a permanent sale – despite the player presently being on loan at La Liga rivals Real Betis.

Roque has had a very tough time in Spanish football, since arriving from Athletico Paranaense in January 2024. He failed to make an impact during the second half of last season at Barcelona, and that resulted with him being sent on loan to Real Betis for the current campaign.

Despite a promising start at Los Verdiblancos, he has struggled in recent months, and he now finds himself as third-choice striker behind Cucho Hernandez and Cedric Bakambu. His disappointment continues during the week as he was sent off against KAA Gent in the UEFA Conference League.

Amid this, Roque has been attracting serious interest from Palmeiras, who want to bring him back to Brazil. Sport have reported that Barcelona have received a final offer for the 19-year-old, which is worth €25m – and as part of this, the Catalans would retain a 20% sell-on clause, which could be crucial if he manages to retain to the form that he showed previously in South America.

Barcelona are interested in selling Roque now, but they are not desperate. They will evaluate his new offer, although they cannot do so for long as Palmeiras have set a deadline of 48 hours to receive a response.

Roque is keen to make the move, but despite this, there are many doubts about the situation. Previous reports have stated that Betis want compensation to agree to terminate the loan agreement that they have in place with Barcelona, but complications have arisen on the back of this as the Brazilians have no intention of sending money the way of Los Verdiblancos.

It is clear that Roque is struggling in La Liga, and a return home could help to revitalise his career. However, it is far from certain that Palmeiras will get their man in the coming days/weeks.
