Barcelona star Lamine Yamal has revealed his take that his timely strike against Atlético Madrid on Sunday night marked the most significant of his club career to date.
Wide-man Lamine was of course in from the off once more yesterday, as Barcelona made the trip to Spain’s capital for a crunch La Liga showdown with Diego Simeone’s Atlético.
When all was said and done, the Blaugrana emerged 4-2 victors, to take another step towards the La Liga title.
This, though, only came by way of a remarkable comeback.
With a full 70 minutes on the clock at the Metropolitano, the visitors found themselves trailing by two goals to nil.
After strikes on the part of Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres levelled things up, though, it was the turn of the aforementioned Lamine to make his mark.
Taking aim at goal from distance as the clash rolled into injury time, the 17-year-old’s deflected strike found its way into the far corner, sparking pandemonium amongst the Barca players and fanbase alike.
Drawn on the significance of his latest goal during a post-match exchange with the media, Lamine, in turn, was not shy in asserting:
“It’s the most important goal I have scored for Barcelona in my career till now.”
