The player in question? Robert Lewandowski.

Barcelona are of course fresh off the most dominant of victories on Sunday, after running riot to the tune of a 7-1 downing of the aforementioned Valencia.

Frontman Lewandowski was for his part introduced off the bench during the 2nd-half of the matchup.

And the Pole marked his latest appearance with a 17th goal of the La Liga campaign to date, maintaining his place atop the Pichichi standings.

As alluded to above, though, this was far from the only noteworthy moment for Lewandowski on Sunday evening.

In addition, as highlighted by Diario Sport, the 26-year-old was for the first time since making the move to Barcelona in the summer of 2022 handed the captain’s armband whilst on the pitch.

With none of the five designated Blaugrana captaincy group of Marc-André ter Stegen, Ronald Araújo, Pedri, Raphinha or Frenkie de Jong on the pitch at Montjuïc, the armband therefore went the way of Lewandowski for the game’s closing exchanges.
