The brass at La Liga giants Barcelona have set their sights on the signature of Newcastle United star Alexander Isak for the January transfer window.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have on Saturday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.
Having now returned to the 1:1 rule at financial level, Barcelona, it is understood, are desperate to secure attacking reinforcements with a view to the 2nd half of the campaign.
Either a left winger, or a mobile centre-forward with the ability to shift out wide during build-up, is being sought.
And at the very top of the shortlist drawn up by Deco and co, ahead of the likes of Nico Williams, Marcus Rashford and Viktor Gyökeres, is the aforementioned Alexander Isak.
Frontman Isak is for his part in the midst of a scintillating stretch of recent form on the books of Newcastle, enough to draw the attentions of Barcelona once more.
The fee demanded is likely to prove an issue, but the Catalans are hopeful that the Swede’s desire to play in the Champions League once more could be decisive in swinging things in their favour.
