The prospects of Ansu Fati staying at Barcelona appear to be waning with each passing day. Even after returning from injury, the forward has found it difficult to carve out a place for himself in the first-team.

His most recent setback came in Barcelona’s recent win over Athletic Club in the semifinal of the Spanish Super Cup.

The forward was completely excluded from the squad against Athletic Club, initially leading many to believe that he had picked up a fresh injury.

Ansu surprised by Super Cup snub

However, a recent report from COPE (h/t FCB World) has revealed that Ansu was extremely surprised with his exclusion from the squad against Athletic Club.

The report adds that the forward was not suffering from any discomfort or injury. He was simply left out from a sporting perspective.

In light of his snub, Ansu feels Barcelona are now keen on loaning him out or even selling him in the ongoing January transfer window.

This comes on the back of a recent speculation linking Ansu with a move to Real Betis, with coach Manuel Pellegrini reportedly keen on shoring up his ranks in the offensive unit.

Barcelona, for their part, might not have any problems offloading Fati this January as the player has indeed fallen out of Hansi Flick’s gameplan.

Earlier in the summer, the German was keen on giving Fati a fresh start. But following injuries and a lack of a creative spark, Flick is now starting to count on other attacking options.

Fati, though, is not too keen on leaving Barcelona. The attacking outcast still wants to prove himself in Catalonia, though the chances of a breakthrough at Camp Nou are growing increasingly bleak.
