An insight into the backup plan of those behind the scenes at La Liga giants Barcelona in the case of being unable to sign priority summer transfer target Luis Díaz has on Wednesday been provided.

This comes amid confirmation that the Blaugrana have an alternative target in mind….

The subject of potential attacking reinforcements has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over recent days.

As much comes amid the widespread understanding that the addition of a new winger has been earmarked as something of a priority on the part of Deco and the Camp Nou transfer team.

A shortlist of options, in turn, has been drawn up, with one name circled in red at the top: that of Liverpool standout Luis Díaz.

What, though, in the case of Barca being unable to find an agreement with their Anfield counterparts?

As per a report from Mundo Deportivo:

‘The other option is Marcus Rashford (27), with a contract until 2028 with Manchester United but whom his club wants to transfer for at least €40 million.’

Rashford, for his part, was of course heavily linked with a move to Barcelona during the January transfer window, with the player understood to be more than keen on linking up with Hansi Flick’s squad, ready to slash his salary to make the transfer a reality.
