Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany has described Paris Saint-Germain as “one of the biggest clubs in Europe” ahead of their UEFA Champions League meeting on Tuesday.

PSG are enduring a difficult Champions League campaign. With just one win, which came courtesy of a last-minute Paulo Gazzaniga howler in their opener against La Liga side Girona, they currently sit 25th in the revamped “League Phase” of the competition, which means that they are currently on course for a premature exit from the competition.

It comes after a relatively successful campaign from PSG last season where they reached the semi-finals of the competition, ultimately coming unstuck against Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund.

Kompany describes PSG’s Luis Enrique as ‘world-class’

Despite Les Parisiens’ recent poor form in Europe, despite sitting pretty at the top of Ligue 1, they have garnered the respect of Kompany. “We are going to play against one of the biggest clubs in Europe. They have big individuals and a world-class coach,” said the Bayern Munich manager, previewing the Champions League tie.

The former Burnley head coach added, “It is a very talented team. Many players will reach the levels of (Lionel) Messi, Neymar, and (Zlatan) Ibrahimovic in the coming years.” Bayern Munich face PSG at the Allianz Arena on Tuesday night as they look to bolster their hopes of a top-eight finish.
