Tottenham fans are set to greatly outnumber Manchester United supporters in Bilbao for the Europa League final, with reports that around 15,000 Spurs fans are expected to travel to the Basque country without a ticket.

Both clubs have been allocated 15,000 seats at the 53,000-capacity San Mames stadium.

But an army of Spurs supporters is set to descend on Bilbao next week to watch the game in bars.

Around 2,000 United fans are expected to travel without a ticket, with the Daily Mail reporting that they are set to be significantly outnumbered by their Spurs counterparts.

Spurs reached the 2019 Champions League final but a major final is more of a novelty than it is for United.

Thousands of Spurs and United fans will also take up corporate tickets in the rest of the ground.

Reports in Spain even claim as many as 80,000 Brits are set to descend on Bilbao, with residents braced for an invasion the likes of which they have “never faced” before.

Police in Bilbao have made a special trip to Wembley to meet their British counterparts and see how they secure the perimeter at the national stadium.

Basque police are concerned about the number of fans who will travel without tickets and want to learn from new security measures that were introduced at Wembley after the crowd trouble at the Euro 2020 final.

The Metropolitan Police and Greater Manchester police have also met UEFA officials and the local police in Bilbao, with authorities keen to ensure fans do not experience the issues suffered at recent Champions League finals in Istanbul and Paris.

Two separate fan zones will be set up in Bilbao.
