Borussia Dortmund are said to be keen on signing PSV Eindhoven defender Olivier Boscagli, who would be available on a free transfer next summer.

Signing a new defender is likely to be high on Borussia Dortmund’s list of priorities in the coming transfer windows. And the Black and Yellows are now being linked with a move for in-form PSV Eindhoven centre-back Olivier Boscagli. The 26 year old is enjoying a strong season so far with the Dutch giants, and a number of clubs are said to be interested in his signature.

According to BILD, Boscagli could be an interesting option for Borussia Dortmund with his current contract set to expire at the end of the season. The tabloid adds that Brighton & Hove Albion also have interest in signing the former France youth team international.

PSV Eindhoven could look to sell Boscagli in January as they look to generate a transfer fee from his sale. But the defender would also be able to hold talks with other clubs following the turn of the year ahead of a prospective move on a free transfer next summer.

Olivier Boscagli certainly has an interesting profile, as he is capable of playing both at centre-back and at left-back. In addition, he is also adept at playing in the number six role.

Borussia Dortmund’s defensive struggles have been well documented this season. And the injuries in defence have forced Nuri Sahin to use the likes of Emre Can and Pascal Groß in the back four. So adding another centre-back who is also capable of playing in other roles would no doubt be a smart decision on the part of the BVB bosses.
