Bees out to sting Premier League champions once again

Brentford are out to continue their proud home record when they host Premier League champions Manchester City this week.

While the Bees have lost two games in a row at home, they remain a force to be reckoned with. Thomas Frank’s side have taken 22 points at the Gtech Community Stadium, with only Liverpool boasting a better record at home (23).

They were, however, shocked by Plymouth in the FA Cup third-round on Saturday, falling to a 1-0 defeat.

City, meanwhile, had no such issues as they hammered Salford 8-0 to reach the fourth round, with James McAtee scoring a hat-trick and Jack Grealish getting on the scoresheet for the first time since December 2023.

They are on a two-game winning streak in the League, having thrashed West Ham 4-1 last time out but Pep Guardiola insists it is still too early to say a corner has been turned.

Here’s everything you need to know about the game.

Date, kick-off time and venue

Brentford vs Man City is scheduled for a 7.30pm GMT kick-off time on Tuesday 14 January 2025.

The Gtech Community Stadium in London will host.

Brentford vs Man City team news

Rico Henry made his first start since last year for the Bees on Saturday. Josha Dasilva, Ehtan Pinnock and Igor Thiago are expected to miss out.

Ben Mee and Kristoffer Ajer are thought to be closer in returning from injury. Aaron Hickey remains a long-term absentee.

City will hope to have Ruben Dias back from injury, but this match could come too soon for both him and John Stones. Oscar Bobb is back in training, though he will not be rushed into action.

Jack Grealish and Jeremy Doku both impressed against Salford last time out and will be hoping to keep their places in the side.

Brentford vs Man City prediction

It remains unclear as to whether City really are back at it just yet. With that in mind – coupled with Brentford’s strong home record – a draw seems reasonably likely.

Draw, 1-1.
