Brest achieve two historic Ligue 1 feats in 2024 | OneFootball

Stade Brestois ended a historic Ligue 1 year with an emphatic 4-1 triumph over FC Nantes earlier this month.

The club from the Finistère department of Brittany punched well above their weight all year, reaching unforeseen heights along the way. Éric Roy’s men lost just three Ligue 1 affairs from January until the end of last season, achieving their highest top-flight finish (third) in the process.

A season on from their historic achievements in the top flight, Les Pirates have been one of the biggest surprises in the UEFA Champions League thus far. In their first-ever appearance in that competition, Brest have picked up four victories in six matches, accumulating 13 points and assuring themselves a place in the knockout phase of that tournament, at worst.

If they can win their final two encounters in the League phase, Brest will finish in the top eight and earn an automatic spot in the Round of 16.

Domestically this team have suffered eight defeats after 15 matchdays, which is one more than they incurred during their previous campaign in the top-flight. While that has them in the bottom half of the table (11th) for now, all things considered, 2024 has been a remarkable year for the club.

Brest scored 52 Ligue 1 goals in 2024 while winning over 40% of their matches in the competition; both are club records over a calendar year.

They have points in six of their previous seven Ligue 1 affairs at Stade Francis-Le Blé, netting three or more goals in three of those encounters.
