Real Madrid have a chance to win their first trophy of the season as they will lock horns against a stubborn CF Pachuca from Mexico.
Kylian Mbappe is expected to start this match after telling the club’s medical personnel and management that he is ready to do so.
Expect Carlo Ancelotti to begin the match with a simple and straightforward formation.
Here is how Real Madrid can lineup against CF Pachuca.
GK: Thibaut Courtois
Had a poor outing against Rayo Vallecano but has a chance to redeem himself tonight. In such a final, he will be challenged and the Belgian would be eager to step up.
RB: Lucas Vazquez
This has been a poor season for the Spaniard due to his lack of pace and questionable defensive abilities. Hopefully, he would want to emerge out of tonight’s final unscathed and play a part in the victory.
CB: Aurelien Tchouaméni
Expect Carlo Ancelotti to go with the experience of this Frenchman rather than starting youngster Raul Asencio. Aurelien has blown hot and cold this season and he is required to be at his absolute best tonight since a single mistake can cost Real Madrid the trophy.
CB: Antonio Rüdiger
No rest for the German yet again. Did not have a good game by any means against Rayo but he is known to step up in big finals like this – and even has experience of doing so. Hence, Real Madrid would hope that Rudiger is rock solid tonight.
LB: Fran García
Has been the better left-back this season and is now getting regular chances. He just needs to time his attacking runs well and not leave too much space behind to cover for Rüdiger and Bellingham.
CM: Fede Valverde
Scored a goal against Rayo and again, his long range strikes can be crucial tonight since their opponents have not conceded a single goal so far in two games.
CM: Eduardo Camavinga
He was a sight to see in the 20 minute cameo in the last match. Not many players can put up such a display after returning from injury. With Tchouameni in defence, will start in the three-man midfield for Madrid.
CM: Jude Bellingham
Has been going through his best goal-scoring form after a quiet start to the season. The Englishman has scored 7 goals and assisted twice in the last two games in all competitions, including an ongoing 6-match goalscoring streak in La Liga. Another chance tonight for the starlet to extend his tally.
RW: Rodrygo
Was a delight for sore eyes to watch him finally be at his best in the previous match. His dribbles and the ability to put in accurate crosses can cause trouble for Pachuca and the Brazilian would look to now be more consistent on the attacking front.
ST: Kylian Mbappe
He will step on to the pitch of the Lusail Stadium in Qatar tonight – the same venue for the 2022 World Cup final where this Frenchman scored a breathtaking hattrick but ended up on the losing side in arguably the best games in the history of football.
Also, ironically, this final will take place on the same date as the World Cup final two years ago. Winning tonight will not be as big as lifting the World Cup but Mbappe would be eager to have some good memories of this ground and contribute to the team’s victory in any way possible.
