Southampton forward Cameron Archer was linked to Leeds United this winter. Though a deal wasn't finalized then, he remains an option for them. But a move might be more challenging for him this time.
Don't you think Southampton forwards have been a laughing stock for others lately? Had it been only performance issues, it still made sense, but they have been frequently ridiculed off the field.
Some face embarrassment, and some unexpected injuries while some go the extra mile taking a rejection from a Championship club.
If you're still confused about who we refer to in the last incident, it's forward Cameron Archer.
Having fallen in boss Juric's precedence list, Archer had been linked with a winter move to Leeds. But, what he ended up with was shocking, a stinging rejection from boss Farke's entourage.
Yet if that felt shocking, the latest curveball from the Championship leaders would leave you stunned.
As per TeamTalk, Saints forward Cameron Archer still makes Leeds' transfer shortlist. Though a move was halted recently, Farke's side can look up to him for their Top Flight campaign next.
Still, it would be unfair for you not to know what's changed in the scenario. Well, concisely put, it's Archer's precedence.
As it stands, Archer is no longer a lone choice for Leeds, being accompanied by three more English division players. Namely, Rasmus Hojlund, Wilson Isidor, and Josh Sargent.
If that made you feel sad for Archer, be prepared for what's next.
It's a possibility that even a Leeds transfer might not help him. This is because of the club's tactical playstyle, who might prefer him as a backup to a rigid number 9 option.
Hopefully, it's still not over for him. Weeks ago, Juric admitted Archer's improvement as the forward prepares hard to return to the eleven. Though he hasn't played yet, optimism remains on his future.
For now, only a Saints comeback can get his career back on track or otherwise, he could be another talent wasted. Praying it doesn't happen.
