Chelsea forward Aimee Claypole has joined Barclays Women’s Championship club Durham on loan for the remainder of the season.

WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official club press release from The Wildcats this morning.

Claypole joined Chelsea as a nine-year-old and she has successfully worked her way up The Blues’ youth age groups to the senior side. The 19-year-old made her first team debut for Chelsea in an Adobe Women’s FA Cup tie at Aston Villa in January 2022. She has since gone on to make two further appearances for the South West Londoners.

The attacker has found minutes hard to come by early in her senior career at Chelsea and she has spent time out on loan at Lewes and Linköping FC in recent seasons to further her development. Claypole will now spend further time away from her parent club with the player set to represent Durham in the second half of this season.

After joining Durham, Claypole said “I’m really excited to be here. The ambition of the Club for the second half of the season is where I want to be as well.

“Hopefully, it will be a good loan for me and also for the Club to try and push for promotion.”

Claypole is Durham’s first signing of the January transfer window.
