The January window has closed with disappointingly little action for Chelsea. All the briefs and insiders are pointing to the fact that the club were focused on a big summer. And already the first word of who our top targets might be is coming out.

Chelsea are looking to upgrade in a few positions, and no matter how much backing our current options get, there’s no doubt that goalkeeper is one of them. Robert Sanchez has now been dropped for the second season running – surely he won’t get a third?

A target if we do go after a goalie in the summer is Caoimhin Kelleher of Liverpool. The Ireland international is stuck behind two great goalie in the Anfield pecking order, so it makes sense for him to move on if the chance comes.

CaughtOffside reel off a long list of interested teams, with Chelsea at the front of it. Newcastle, Bournemouth, Nottingham Forest and Celtic are also named as being in the mix.

Kelleher set for Liverpool exit this summer

Kelleher is know to be good with the ball at his feet as well as being a good shot stopper, so he ticks all the boxes for Enzo Maresca. Liverpool will want good money for him, especially given the competition there looks to be to sign him, but as he drifts towards the end of his contract their demands can only fall.

After keeping him for an extra season, they also probably feel they owe it to him to not stand in his way if a good bid comes in this summer.

Whether that bid comes from Chelsea will likely depend a lot on how well Filip Jorgensen does as Sanchez’s replacement in the next few months.
