Chelsea are reportedly preparing a ‘game-changing’ transfer offer for Jobe Bellingham, the younger brother of Real Madrid and England star Jude Bellingham. Metro reports that the 19-year-old’s impressive performances at Sunderland have caught the attention of multiple Premier League clubs, as well as European giants Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund.
Jobe Bellingham has enjoyed a rapid rise since joining Sunderland from Birmingham City in the summer of 2023. His development has been key in the Black Cats’ Championship play-off push, making him one of the hottest prospects outside of the Premier League.

“Sunderland rewarded the 19-year-old with a new contract last year to tie him to the club until 2028, but it appears increasingly unlikely that Jobe will still be at the Stadium of Light by then.”
His performances in midfield have earned widespread plaudits, and with Arsenal and Manchester United reportedly monitoring his progress, his next move appears to be only a matter of time.
Despite heavy spending in recent seasons, Chelsea are keen to add more homegrown talent to their squad. According to Metro, the Blues are now leading the race to secure Jobe’s signature and are willing to outbid their rivals.
“Chelsea have also entered the race to sign Jobe and are ready to beat their competitors with a big-money deal.”
Given the club’s recent transfer policy, it’s a move that fits their long-term vision—acquiring young talents with the potential to develop into world-class players. Yet, questions remain over whether Stamford Bridge is the best environment for a player like Jobe, considering the struggles of several young signings to establish themselves in Chelsea’s ever-rotating squad.
Sunderland’s hopes of keeping Bellingham may hinge on their promotion bid. The club is confident that, should they return to the Premier League, they can convince their rising star to stay.
“Sunderland are confident they can keep hold of the England U21 star if they secure promotion to the Premier League but will brace for offers if they remain in the Championship.”
That, however, is a big if. The Championship is notoriously competitive, and failure to go up this season could see Sunderland forced into negotiations with the Premier League’s biggest spenders.
Jude Bellingham’s career trajectory—thriving at Borussia Dortmund before sealing an £88.5m move to Real Madrid—serves as both an inspiration and a cautionary tale for his younger brother.

“It was at Dortmund that the older Bellingham brother began to thrive and emerge as one of the best players in the world and a regular for England.”
While Jude took the route of steady development abroad, Jobe may face a more direct leap into English top-flight football. Chelsea’s interest is flattering, but whether it provides the right platform for him remains up for debate.
Excited Chelsea Fans: Chelsea’s move for Jobe Bellingham is a clear signal of intent. The club has spent heavily on young talent, and while some signings have flopped, the potential of acquiring another Bellingham is enticing. If Jobe can develop like his brother, Chelsea might secure a midfield star for the future.
Sceptical Sunderland Fans: For Sunderland supporters, this is a familiar story. The club develops a young gem, only for Premier League giants to swoop in. If Sunderland secures promotion, they stand a chance of keeping him, but failure to do so will almost certainly see Jobe depart.
Concerned Arsenal & United Fans: With both clubs linked to Jobe, missing out to Chelsea would be frustrating. Midfield reinforcements are needed at both clubs, and letting a talent like Bellingham slip through their fingers could prove costly in the long run.
As the summer window approaches, the battle for Jobe Bellingham is heating up, and Sunderland’s promotion hopes might be the only thing keeping him at the Stadium of Light.
