European giants Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid are both interested in Christopher Nkunku if the attacker decides he wants to leave this month according to reports.

The Blues were expected to be quiet this month but with injuries to Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile the club could reconsider their plans to go into the market.

Outgoings will likely be the main priority with Chelsea keen to find solutions for a number of players, with Carney Chukwuemeka and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall both attracting interest from West Ham.

Bayern and Atletico interested in Nkunku

Another player facing an uncertain future is Nkunku, who was an unused substitute for the draw against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

The 27-year-old has played second fiddle to Nicolas Jackson for the majority of the season and Fabrizio Romano has confirmed Chelsea don’t want to sell the France international unless he makes it clear he wants to leave the club.

Nkunku joined the Blues in the summer of 2023 from RB Leipzig but his debut season was plagued by injury and he was limited to just 14 appearances in all competitions.

The Frenchman appeared set for a key role under Maresca having impressed in pre-season and been one of Chelsea’s standout performers.

However, after starting the first league game of the season Nkunku has gone on to start just 3 league games out of 20 this campaign, although he’s featured more regularly in the Conference League and has managed 12 goals in 27 appearances in all competitions.

TBR Football have reported Chelsea won’t stand in Nkunku’s way if he decides to leave this month with both Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid expressing interest, whilst Paris Saint Germain continue to monitor the situation.

It’s unclear if any offers will come in for Nkunku this month but it’s been previously reported the Blues want to get back as much as of the £52m they paid as possible.

If Nkunku were to push for move and leave then Chelsea would need to bring another attacker in which can be very difficult to do in January.
