20-year-old midfielder Cher Ndour has joined Italian side ACF Fiorentina on a permanent transfer.

Born in Brescia, Italy, in 2004, Ndour became a youth player for his hometown club in 2009, before moving to Atalanta BC’s academy in 2013. In 2020, he would sign his first professional contract with Portuguese giants SL Benfica.

While plying his trade for the Lisbon outfit’s reserves in the Portuguese second division, at just 16 years and 279 days old, the Italian-Senegalese midfielder became the youngest player ever to feature for Benfica B. Alongside this, he also helped the club’s U19s to win the UEFA Youth League in 2022, not least by scoring a goal in the final.

On 18th March 2023, Ndour made his first-team debut in a game against Vitória de Guimarães, meaning that he officially played a part in Benfica’s Primeira Liga title win that season. As well as being equally capable with either foot, the powerful, 1.90m midfielder also boasts strong technical skill.

In July 2023, after helping Italy to lift the UEFA European Under-19 Championship trophy in Malta by scoring a penalty in his four appearances during the tournament, Ndour joined Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer, and on 3rd September 2023, he would make his debut for Les Rouge et Bleu in a 4-1 win over Olympique Lyonnais. At the tender age of 19, Ndour scored his first goal for the capital club in a 9-0 thrashing of US Revel in a Coupe de France last-64 tie in January 2024, while his various other first-team appearances meant that he added the Ligue 1 and Coupe de France trophies to his collection at the end of the 2023–2024 season.

Having joined SC Braga on loan during that campaign’s winter transfer window, the Italy under-21 international made 11 appearances for Os Arcebispos across all competitions, including two in the UEFA Europa League, whilst netting one goal in the Primeira Liga, where his side eventually earned a fourth-place finish.

Ndour was loaned out once again in the 2024 summer transfer window, this time signing for Turkish club Beşiktaş JK, where he would make 22 appearances across all competitions, including seven in the Europa League, whilst bagging one goal and two assists.

Paris Saint-Germain would like to wish Cher all the best for the rest of his career.
