Ismael Bennacer has faced another long road to recovery after tearing his calf muscle at the start of the season, but his return is now close.
As Calciomercato.com recall, the Algerian midfielder was injured during a training session with his national team, suffering a severe lesion of the medial gemellus muscle in his right calf, requiring surgery.
Now, there is finally some good news for Paulo Fonseca, as the 26-year-old is quite literally sprinting towards his return to the field which is scheduled for the end of January.
He posted a video on his social media channels, in which he is busy with a training session with a personal trainer who is following him step by step.
In the post, Bennacer can be seen running on a field and doing some work with the ball. It is a good sign for the Portuguese coach, who should be able to count on an extra addition to the midfield in January.
Bennacer’s message was as follows: “The countdown has begun.” Of course, he will need some time training with the rest of the squad to get back his fitness, and then a period will be needed to get up to match fitness, which will not be rushed.
