Today marks an important step regarding the stadium project as AC Milan and Inter will present their offer to buy San Siro and the surrounding areas.

Corriere della Sera (via MilanPress) reports that Milan and Inter will present the feasibility document of the project alternatives – the so-called ‘Docfap’ – to the Council of Milan. What is it? In simple terms, the plan for the ‘new San Siro’ project, including a bid for the site.

The document is around 200 pages and contains the plan for the new stadium (around 70,000 in capacity), the final cost for the clubs (over €1bn), how the environmental impact will be reduced to a minimum and the idea of repurposing the parts of the current stadium.

The goal, according to the newspaper, is to conclude the process before the second tier of San Siro turns 70 years old, with the risk that more stringent constraints will come into play. Both RedBird Capital and Oaktree – the owners of Milan and Inter – want to speed up the stadium issue.

For their part, the Council has two options: to call for a tender or to proceed with the direct assignment to the buyers Milan and Inter who agree to follow the procedure that gives them the most possible guarantees, to try avoid an appeal. The timing would foresee the start of work in 2027 and the conclusion in 2030.

What about San Donato? Milan must find another use in agreement with the administration for the investment of €40m made so far on that site. The latest idea is potentially moving the current PUMA House of Football there, where the youth teams train and play.
