A shocking report claims that the Glazers intentionally avoided inviting Manchester United players to Tampa to avoid a mutiny, suggesting Cristiano Ronaldo had a point.
During his second stint with the Red Devils between August 2021 and December 2022, the Portuguese superstar often complained about the poor state of the infrastructure at the club’s training ground. While he managed to force some changes at Carrington, it still fell short of his expectations. CR7 famously refused to use the club’s pool due to its dire state.
Others have also pointed out that Man Utd’s training centre is hardly worthy of a club considered among the biggest on the globe.
But while the club’s majority owners, the Glazer family, never heeded the calls for a renovation at Carrington, American football outfit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (partially owned by the same family) enjoy a state-of-the-art training ground.
So according to ESPN reporter Mark Ogden, the club owners intentionally avoided bringing in the Red Devils to Florida during their pre-season tours in the United States as they didn’t want the players to take a peak at the Buccaneers’ training centre and find out what they’re missing out on.
“I was told a story by somebody who worked at United, and it’s the elephant in the room that we haven’t really discussed: It’s the Glazers. It’s the Glazer family and their ownership of the club,” said the Man Utd insider during his appearance on The Football Reporters podcast.
“I asked this person, I said, when United go to America, why do they never go to Tampa? Arsenal will do a link-up with the LA Rams or with whoever (owner Stan) Kroenke’s team are. Liverpool did it with FSG in Boston, they spent a lot of time there.
“United have never gone anywhere near Tampa, where the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that the Glazers own in the US (are). I was told it’s quite simply because the owners didn’t want the United squad to see how good the Tampa Bay facilities were.

The journalist claims that the United majority owners feared a revolt at Carrington,
“They didn’t want them to see the training ground because the training ground at Tampa is meant to be state-of-the-art.
“The stadium is a top stadium. The Glazers have put a lot of money into the facility at Tampa and if the players had gone to Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ training ground and realised what they had and what United don’t have, there might have been a mutiny at the club.”
