Gunners four points behind Reds - albeit Arne Slot’s side have game in hand
David Raya says Arsenal believe they can reel Premier League leaders Liverpool in after beating Tottenham in the north London derby.
The Gunners beat Tottenham 2-1 at Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night to close the gap on Liverpool to just four points.
Arne Slot’s side have a game in hand on Arsenal, which they will use next month when they travel to Everton for the final Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.
Arsenal had been written off in the title after a draw at Brighton and two defeats in the domestic cups last week, but Raya remains confident.
“In football, everything can happen,” he said. “Like I said, we just have to focus on ourselves - the next training session, the next recovery, the next game.
“Don’t think too much ahead, because that will play badly against us. Focus on ourselves, focus on the next game, don’t think too much about the future, just live in the present. That is the most important thing.
“It’s just too early to think about the end of the season and the title race and everything. It’s, like you said, three weeks ago people are saying that Liverpool had the title in their hands.
“It’s just football and everything changes in two, three games. We just have to focus ourselves. Try to win every game and we will see where we are at the end of the season.”

The win over Tottenham was a big boost for Arsenal, who came into the north London derby off the back of a difficult week.
Mikel Arteta’s side lost to Newcastle in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final and then were dumped out of the FA Cup by Manchester United.
Arsenal responded, however, by beating rivals Tottenham - despite going a goal behind when Heung-min Son scored.
“It was really, really important to come with a big, big mentality,” said Raya. “We know how important the derby is, not just for the league, but for the people that follow us.
“So we are very, very happy to make people happy. Delighted with the performance and the three points.
“I think we showed very big character throughout the game, especially when we went down 1-0. After that, we dominated the whole first-half and it was just the resilience of the team to keep doing the right things.
“We got the rewards of the two goals before half-time. In the second-half we created the chances, as well, but the ball didn’t want to go in the net.
“We just had to fight for the result and we did that. We defended very well, we kept the ball and we kept them quiet. The most important thing was the three points and just to make those fans very happy.”
