Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney is reportedly set to leave the club at the end of the season, and has been informed about the decision.

The Scotland international has struggled for playing time at the Emirates Stadium after numerous problems with injuries, and it now looks like his Gunners career is over.

Tierney will be out of contract next summer, and the deadline has now passed for Arsenal to trigger the option to extend his deal by one more year, which means everything is now in place for him to leave, according to The Athletic.

Tierney could even leave in January as well if the opportunity arises, according to the report, so the 27-year-old won’t be sticking around in north London for much longer.

Some Arsenal fans will no doubt be disappointed that things couldn’t work out better for Tierney, but at this point this decision is hardly surprising.

What next for Kieran Tierney as he comes to the end of his time at Arsenal?

Tierney looked like an exciting prospect when he first joined Arsenal from Celtic back in the summer of 2019, and he fared well in his early years at the Emirates.

Since then, injuries have really derailed his career, but there’s every chance that some big clubs out there will feel he’s a player worth gambling on.

If he can stay fit, Tierney has it in him to be a key player for a top side, but at the moment it’s not clear who his suitors would be.

Tierney spent last season on loan at Real Sociedad, so perhaps there’ll be another option for him abroad, and AFC fans will surely just wish him the best for the rest of his career.

Arsenal have plenty of other options ahead of Tierney at left-back now, such as Riccardo Calafiori, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Jakub Kiwior, Takehiro Tomiyasu and exciting homegrown youngster Myles Lewis-Skelly.
