FLW's Robins fan pundit believes a loan move for the youngster could really help his development

Elijah Morrison is a promising player at Bristol City and has been given a chance by Liam Manning in recent weeks.

Morrison is another product of the Robins' academy and could well be an up-and-coming star at Ashton Gate.

The wide player made his third Bristol City appearance in the Championship in the 2-1 defeat to the Blades on Tuesday evening and has caught the eye of fans in his brief cameos, having also appeared against Leeds United a few weeks ago.

It remains to be seen whether he will continue to get opportunities or if a loan move for some regular first-team minutes is the next step.

Bristol City urged to look at Elijah Morrison loan move in January

FLW's Bristol City fan pundit, James Skinner, believes Morrison could really do with a loan move in the January transfer window and has outlined why.

"A player I can see going out on loan in January is Elijah Morrison," he said. "It's worth saying first of all that I do think he has a strong future at Ashton Gate. He's been on the bench a few times so far this season and he's come on in games. He's shown glimpses of what he can do, but I think it would be good for him to go to a League Two or even a League One club.

"He needs that first-team experience on a weekly basis and sort of get him used to the demands of first-team football at a decent level.

"If he does go on loan, then I think he could come back and be a key asset for the club and hopefully a permanent fixture for the first time. That would be nice.

"He's got it there, I've seen it in the U21s, he's got it in his locker, I just think that bit of first team experience on loan would do him some good."

Out of all the current Bristol City academy graduates, Morrison is one of the more promising players.

The England U18 international has shown glimpses of his pace and quick feet in his Championship cameos so a loan spell away from Ashton Gate could be the ideal next step to aid his development.

Morrison looks set to continue the trend of brilliant Bristol City success from their youth setup. Antoine Semenyo, Lloyd Kelly, and Tommy Conway have all come through their system to be sold on while while Zak Vyner, Sam Bell, Cam Pring, and Max O'Leary are all current first-team players that were part of the academy.

A loan move would be the ideal scenario for the 18-year-old, who has only had a little taste of professional football, and could benefit from a spell further down the EFL with a view to him making an impact Bs3 next season and beyond.
