Gianluigi Donnarumma is reportedly ruled out of tonight’s Nations League match between Italy and France, so Guglielmo Vicario should start.
It kicks off at San Siro at 19.45 GMT and is the final group game, a head-to-head for top spot and therefore top seed status in the draw for the quarter-finals.
Donnarumma had been all set to start in goal and wear the captain’s armband as the player with the most senior caps in the starting XI.
However, Sky Sport Italia report that the Paris Saint-Germain shot-stopper has been struck down with a stomach bug today and is therefore not risked.
Instead, Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Vicario steps in to take the gloves against France.
The 28-year-old has only three senior caps for Italy, which he earned in friendlies against Ecuador and Turkey in March and June 2024, then the 4-1 Nations League victory over Israel on October 14.
