Liverpool will look to maintain their unbeaten run when they face Newcastle United in the Premier League on Wednesday at Anfield.
Ahead of the game, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has shared his plans to stop Mohamed Salah, who has been incredible for Liverpool this season.
The Egyptian winger is the leading goalscorer in the Premier League and he is showing no signs of slowing down.
Howe says that the 32-year-old can pose a big “challenge” for his side.
Speaking to reporters, he said: “That’s going to be a challenge for us. It’s always not down to any one individual in the team, although he will naturally come up against one opponent, it’s about the team supporting that area of the pitch.”
Salah has scored 25 goals in the Premier League this season. He has also provided 16 assists.
He has also managed three goals and four assists in the Champions League and scored two goals in the Carabao Cup.
The Reds maestro has scored nine goals in his last eight games, and needless to say, the Magpies need to plan something special to stop him.
Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 23 games in the Premier League, and they have taken a healthy 11-point lead over Arsenal.
The games are coming thick and fast at the moment, and Arne Slot could be tempted to rotate his squad to keep the players fresh. Salah is definitely going to start, and Liverpool will hope that he continues to contribute with goals and assists.
Slot has suggested that Salah’s chances of winning the Ballon d’Or will increase if he ends up winning one or two major trophies with Liverpool this season.
