Manchester United, Tottenham and Rangers have learned their opponents following the draw for the Europa League’s last 16.
Friday’s draw has pitted together some tantalising ties, with Manchester United set for a tough task against Real Sociedad. The two teams are among the favourites for the trophy, despite mixed campaigns at domestic level.
Tottenham will take on AZ Alkmaar over two legs for a place in the quarter-finals. Spurs secured a 1-0 win over the Dutch side in the league phase, courtesy of Richarlison’s penalty in North London.
AZ impressively beat Galatasaray over two legs in the previous round and contain ex-Spurs striker Troy Parrott in their ranks. Parrott has scored 17 goals in all competitions since leaving North London for the Netherlands last summer.
Rangers will come up against Fenerbahce in the last 16. The Turkish giants are under the management of Jose Mourinho, who is aiming to win this tournament with a third different club after successes with Porto (2003) and Manchester United (2016).
