Everton defender James Tarkowski has admitted that he is over his injury issues, and this should excite the fan base.

The Toffees have once again suffered a slump in form, failing to win in their last three Premier League games.

Everton made a dreadful start to the season, but it seemed like Sean Dyche’s side had turned it around after picking up two wins in four Premier League games, drawing the other two.

While they have managed only one defeat in their last seven games, their inability to pick up more wins has been frustrating for the fans.

The Toffees have conceded 17 goals in the league so far, but Tarkowski suggests the Blues have returned to their best shape defensively.

The 31-year-old defender struggled with injury niggles at the start of the season that hampered his performances. He missed part of pre-season with a glute injury and then dealt with a back problem once the campaign got underway.

What Tarkowski has said about his injury problems

The defender, who has not missed a minute of Premier League action this season, has said that it was not easy for him playing with niggles and injuries at the start of the season.

However, he is now fully fit and feels he is back to the level where he wants to be.

Tarkowski said: “I’m back to the way I want to be now. It’s took a bit of time, a frustrating period for the first few months.

“It’s not easy playing with niggles and injuries and not being at full fitness but it’s part of the game, there’s plenty of people do it. So, I’m feeling back to the level that I want to be, and I want to continue that.”

Exciting injury update from Tarkowski

Tarkowsksi is a key player under Dyche. He has made 94 appearances for the Toffees since joining from Burnley in the summer of 2022 on a free transfer.

Despite playing through injuries and nowhere near hitting his best form, Tarkowski has still managed 2.5 tackles per game and 5.5 clearances.

He lost possession 8.4 times and committed a mistake that led to a penalty. The numbers will only get better now that he has fully recovered.

The Toffees fans will be worried to find that the Blues are still not clicking in their forward department. They were lacklustre in the 1-0 loss against Southampton and hardly created anything in the 0-0 draw against West Ham.

Everton will face Brentford and Wolves in their next two home games, and they should target maximum points from those two fixtures. The Toffees also face tough opponents like Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea, and Nottingham Forest up to the end of the year.
