Inter Milan midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu has won praise for yet another composed performance and penalty against Cagliari.

Today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, hail the Turk’s effort. They also praise Yann Sommer for coming out smartly on Rossoblu striker Roberto Piccoli.

Calhanoglu is a key player at the base of Inter’s midfield trio.

At his best, the former AC Milan and Bayer Leverkusen midfield is a player who makes everything looks easy.

And for much of yesterday’s match, that was the case.

There were no spectacular long-range goals or eye-popping cross-field switches of play from Calhanoglu.

But that’s not what Inter needed.

Hakan Calhanoglu Praised For Another Composed Performance For Inter Vs Cagliari

Inter needed to be patient to break down Cagliari.

And Calhanoglu read the dynamics of the match well. In the first half the 30-year-old didn’t try to force anything in a way that would give up control of the match and allow Cagliari to hit Inter on the break.

Then in the second half, Inter as a whole just seemed to find another gear.

Calhanoglu was, as usual, the player directing traffic.

Then, Calhanoglu stepped up to take Inter’s penalty to seal the win with their third goal. The Turkish international’s penalty was emphatic, with no lack of power but still accurate.

Calhanoglu once again showed that his slip-up from the spot against Napoli hasn’t drastically altered his status as an accurate penalty-taker.

Meanwhile, Tuttosport also praise Inter keeper Yann Sommer for his performance.

The former Bayern Munich veteran didn’t have all that much to do. But he did recognize the danger well to stop Cagliari striker Roberto Piccoli.
