Benjamin Pavard feels that it was important for Inter Milan to respond to their midweek loss to Fiorentina by beating La Viola.
The Frenchman reacted to this evening’s 2-1 Serie A win, via FCInterNews. He also gave his thoughts on next Sunday’s Derby d’Italia clash with Juventus.
Inter beat Fiorentina 2-1 in Serie A this evening.
That result takes the Nerazzurri to within a point of Napoli at the top of the Serie A table. They have successfully capitalized on the league leaders slip-up against Udinese over the weekend.
But there is a sense that the win means even more than that for Inter.
The Nerazzurri had already faced Fiorentina just four days ago.
And that match had ended in a 3-0 win for the Tuscan side.
That was the heaviest defeat that Inter have had all season. And it was the first time that they had lost a match by a three-goal margin since 2019.
Moreover, the scoreline was hardly a fluke or harsh on Inter. The Nerazzurri’s performance really was bad enough to warrant the result, particularly in comparison to a spirited and organized Viola display.
But Inter were able to put that blunder at the Stadio Artemio Franchi behind them.
The most important thing was for the Nerazzurri to give a signal that that result was just a blip. And they have done exactly that.

“It was hugely important to win tonight after the 3-0 win for Fiorentina in Florence,” said Inter defender Benjamin Pavard.
“I’m very happy with the performance and the win,” he added. “We had to respond after the loss on Thursday.”
As for Fiorentina’s first half penalty, Benjamin Pavard said that “For us as defenders, a clean sheet is always important.”
“But the win was what mattered. We got back on track.”
Then, the 28-year-old former Bayern Munich defender gave his thoughts on next Sunday’s Derby d’Italia clash with Juventus in Serie A.
“All matches are important,” he said. “We’re going to try and win them all.”
