Zamorano had a successful time at Inter. Having previously starred for the likes of Sevilla and Real Madrid in Spain, he joined the Nerazzurri in 1996, staying at the club until 2001.

Zamorano made a total of 148 appearances for Inter. he scored 39 goals in the process, across all competitions.

And the Chilean had his share of top-class players as teammates during his time at the Nerazzurri.

Perhaps none moreso than the iconic Brazilian centre-forward Ronaldo.

Ronaldo, who also played for the likes of PSV, Barcelona, Real Madrid, and AC Milan across his time in Europe, had some of his most successful years playing for Inter.

Ivan Zamorano: “Ronaldo The Best No. 9 In History, Lautaro Martinez World-Class”

Of his former teammate Ronaldo, Zamorano said that “For me he was the best Number Nine in history.”

“And the best player I ever played with.”

Zamorano also said that his former Nerazzurri coach Gigi Simoni was “like a father” to him.

Meanwhile, the Chilean striker also backed Inter’s current captain Lautaro Martinez to rediscover his best form.

“Lautaro is a world-class player,” Zamorano declared.

“Not just at the level of the club.”

Martinez has not been at his free-scoring best. He has not been as ruthless in front of goal as in recent seasons, having been Inter’s top scorer three campaigns in a row and the top scorer for all of Serie A last time out.

This led to a notable snub from the FIFA The Best award nominations.

However, Martinez has remained a key player for Inter in their starting eleven.

The Argentine wears the captain’s armband and partners Marcus Thuram in the first-choice strike duo.
