Manchester United outcast Marcus Rashford has one less option as Borussia Dortmund have reportedly decided to drop out of the race.

The 27-year-old is widely expected to leave Carrington this month after finding himself outside of Ruben Amorim’s tactical plans. The striker hasn’t stepped foot on the pitch in the club’s last seven fixtures.

Some believe this decision is due to a lack of effort in training, while others suggested it’s due to the player’s nightlife antics. But whatever the reason may be, the player’s departure appears to be inevitable at this stage, especially following a controversial interview where he proclaimed his desire to embark on a new experience, which left a sour taste in the mouths of many fans and observers.

In recent weeks, Rashford has been heavily linked with AC Milan and Dortmund. These two clubs emerged as his most likely destinations. In Milano, he would find an old ally in Zlatan Ibrahimovic who currently serves as the Rossoneri’s advisor. On the other hand, the German side would offer him the opportunity to replicate Jadon Sancho’s career revival from last season.

But according to Sky Sport Germany (via Manchester Evening News), BVB have decided to pull out of the race, as their head coach Nuri Sahin opted against the transfer.

The former Real Madrid and Liverpool midfielder cited financial reasons behind the decision, as he believes the costs of the operation exceed their current budget.

Therefore, Rashford might find himself with limited choices at this stage. While a transfer to Barcelona remains his ultimate dream, the Catalan giants have enough financial woes on their hands at the moment, so they would certainly have to offload at least one player to make room for the England international.

Hence, Milan might be the most realistic option for the wantaway striker at this stage.
