Chelsea are considering making an approach to sign a player from PSG this month in a surprising move than will depend on other situations.
The Blues have been busy in the last few days, or at least in terms of making plans and transfer rumours being generated from those plans.
We have seen Chelsea linked with Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace as they look at potentially signing new centre backs this month. And as well as that Chelsea are also apparently ‘leading the chase’ to sign Kobbie Mainoo from Manchester United in another surprise rumour that has come from nowhere.
And now, as our writer Simon Phillips has exclusively revealed on his own Substack site this morning, Chelsea are weighing up a move to bring in another defender, and that could happen this move as well.
Mendes getting a lot of interest
Phillips suggests that this potential arrival could depend on the future of Renato Veiga and Ben Chilwell though, so it’s something that could wait until the summer.
He says:
‘There has been rumours from reliable outlets suggesting that Renato Veiga could also go out on loan this month, and even some suggestions that a permanent sale could occur. Our sources have only heard about a potential loan, with Chelsea not wanting to sell, but this is certainly another situation to watch.
‘As we have been reporting on this site for many months now, Chelsea have been shortlisting new left backs for a potential move in 2025. A move that could now happen this month.
‘Chelsea have many names on the left back shortlist, but the latest one we are now hearing about via a top SPTC source, is PSG’s Nuno Mendes.
‘The Portuguese international left back will have a year left on his current contract come the summer of 2025. You hear me speak about opportunities all the time, and there might be one here that Chelsea are looking at. But so are many other clubs, he has a lot of interest.’
