FC Barcelona’s chances of signing Marcus Rashford appear to be increasing as Juventus are very keen to sign the Catalan club’s defender Ronald Araujo.
The Red Devils are eager to shift Rashford out on loan as he clearly is no longer a part of Ruben Amorim’s plans, having failed to play a game at the club since the 12th of December against Viktoria Plzen.
A plethora of clubs are tracking Rashford but one team who have emerged as big contenders are Barcelona and one trump card the European giants could hold is that Rashford reportedly favours a move to Spain.
As a result, Barcelona are currently trying to explore a way to sign Rashford amidst their own financial problems and are currently attempting to release the €6.5 million from their “salary spend” to allow a deal to occur.
Moreover, owing to complex Spanish financial restrictions, Barcelona must comply to the 1:1 rule, which means a player must leave before they can sign another one.
A deal for Rashford could accelerate soon however as Juventus are hot on the trail of Araujo according to Calciomercato.
The Italian outlet states, “Juventus are betting everything on Araujo: the Barcelona centre-back is well ahead of the other names, who even today have not found easier outlets, or in any case a less blocked road to Turin.”
Crucially, Juve already have “the player’s will to leave” and the club are ready to “welcome him as soon as possible.”
The obstacle is that Barcelona have not agreed to a departure yet as “at the moment, the costs of the loan, nor of the right of redemption have not been discussed: the crux is precisely here, because Barcelona’s request risks being much higher than expected, with a total figure ready to touch the 40 million euro mark, including the first instalment to bring him to Turin as soon as possible.”
Therefore, time and patience may be needed to do a deal but this might accelerate soon as Barcelona have numerous competitors for Rashford, namely AC Milan.
Nonetheless, it is noted that a deal “will proceed more quickly” after Sunday’s Super Cup final in Saudi Arabia is over, where Barcelona will play their great rivals Real Madrid.
It is stated that compromise is needed but with Juventus’ urgency to boost their defence and Barcelona’s desire to raise funds for Rashford, there is optimism a deal can be struck in the coming weeks.
