A former Portsmouth player has encouraged Liverpool to secure a Southampton transfer. He even threw shade towards the Saints in his claim.
Southampton are well versed in taking defeats. In fact, it would be concerning if they weren't, given they sit rock bottom of the Premier League table. However, it will take some time to overcome the most recent defeat against Liverpool.
In the Premier League match held at St Marys Stadium, Southampton were arguably the better side. In fact, they led the match in the second half, before defensive errors saw Liverpool claw their way back into the game, ultimately taking three points from Southampton.
After the match, Liverpool were urged to sign arguably Southampton's best player on the day.
Speaking to The Weekend Wrap on Optus Sport, former Portsmouth player Tim Sherwood was full of praise for Tyler Dibling. However, he doesn't think Dibling will stay for long and even predicted the 18-year-old to be Liverpool's next talent.
In his own words, Sherwood said: “[Tyler] Dibling is the man, this boy, he’s playing against their feeder club. He will probably be [Liverpool's] next signing. I don’t know when that will be, he’s only 18 years of age, but he’s ready to step up, already you know there is a superstar in the making there.”
It is a surprise to see a former Portsmouth player pop up with praise for a Southampton player. However, it is far less surprising to see Sherwood throw in shade towards Southampton - He just couldn't help himself, could he?
However, it's no lie that Southampton have produced talent for Liverpool. In fact, many of Liverpool's best signings have come from the Saints.
However, this is hopefully a trend of the past. For now, Southampton should only consider keeping hold of their best talent. After all, they have long-term goals which can only happen with the best players at the club.
Tyler Dibling is only 18 years old, yet he is getting a lot of praise from former professional players. Without a doubt, it is within Southampton's best interest to keep him, but actually doing so is a different matter.
It's not the first time this week that Southampton have been sent a warning about keeping Tyler Dibling from the top clubs. That said, we can only assume that Dibling is only dedicated to playing for Southampton right now.
