Hugo Ekitike certainly won’t be short of suitors if he opts for a transfer away from Eintracht Frankfurt this summer.
It’s widely anticipated that the in-form frontman will be on the move this summer after only one and a half seasons with Frankfurt.
He initially made the switch to the club in February 2024 on a half-term loan spell from Paris Saint-Germain. Two months later, Frankfurt decided to activate the buy option inserted into the sides’ agreement, signing him permanently for a €16.5 million fee. Ekitike subsequently put pen to paper on a five-year deal.

Ekitike has only flourished since being granted a prominent role in attack upon his Parc des Princes departure. In the 62 appearances he’s made for Frankfurt across all competitions thus far, he’s returned a hugely impressive 26 goals and 13 assists.
This campaign alone, the 22-year-old has found the back of the net a remarkable 22 times while contributing a further 11 assists, making it no surprise he’s establishing himself as one of the most sought-after prospects on the market this summer.
Manchester United were first linked with Ekitike back in March, with numerous outlets since confirming the Reds’ desire to hash out a deal for such a promising talent.
Speculation over his potential Old Trafford move has, however, died down amid the club’s strong interest in Wolverhampton Wanderers talisman Matheus Cunha – presumably because he’s a Premier League-proven star and his £62.5m release clause will make any potential negotiations more straightforward.
Whether INEOS will allocate the funds to sanction both players’ arrivals, plus a centre-forward in the coming months, remains to be seen. If not, they’ll likely have to sit back and watch as Ekitike signs for a direct top-flight rival.
German football expert Christian Falk revealed that both Arsenal and Liverpool have set their sights on the U21 France international, telling CaughtOffside: “It is true: Arsenal and Liverpool want Hugo Ekitike.
“The bosses of Frankfurt assume that the striker will leave at the end of the season, also as Omar Marmoush to Manchester City did. But, again, they want a high price for the striker; €100m is the price tag.
“They are nearly qualified for the Champions League in the next season, so they will have a lot of money from that, and so they have a little hope that they can hold him if somebody doesn’t pay the price. So it’s getting very interesting.”
