Roma director Florent Ghisolfi explained that signing Devyne Rensch was a ‘priority’ for the club, but they will have now to ‘make some exits’ before bringing in more new players, as he reiterated they ‘need to be smart’.
Coach Claudio Ranieri decided to start the newly-signed reinforcement as a right wing-back against Udinese, but now it’s time for the Giallorossi to focus on who could leave the Stadio Olimpico, with Mario Hermoso admittedly among those players on their way out, as Ghisolfi revealed ‘there are teams interested in him’.

Potential new signings will depend on his departure, although the director explained the squad can already boast ‘versatile’ players who could fill up the void left by the former Atletico Madrid defender.
“New transfer moves? First of all, I want to say that we are very happy our fans are with us, it’s the right thing to do, especially considering the relationship between the two fanbases,” Ghisolfi told DAZN ahead of Roma’s Serie A clash at Udinese.
“Their place is always by our side. On the transfer market: as we’ve said before, we don’t want to do anything that’s not right; in the winter, we need to be smart.
“We need to make some exits before we bring in new players. We’ve already secured Rensch, our priority signing, and then we’ll see if there are any further moves in the final week.
“There are teams interested in him [Hermoso], we’ve had contact, but nothing is done yet.
“We need to bring in a central defender if he leaves, although Rensch, Celik, and Cristante are versatile and can play as defenders. But if he goes, we’ll need someone.”

Ghisolfi also commented on Paulo Dybala’s automatic contract renewal, defining the Argentina international ‘a technical leader’.
“We can officially say that the renewal has been triggered, and we’re very happy because he is a technical leader and an important figure for the club and our fans,” he said.
