Gotham FC vs Houston Dash: How to watch, time, and more of reunion match

The start of the 2025 season has not been ideal for NJ/NY Gotham FC. The ladies split the points with Seattle Reign FC during the season opener and sadly lost to the Orlando Pride during the home opener. The Bats played better in the second match despite the result, but only have one point to start the campaign. With some difficult games ahead of them and plenty on the road, the next month will be challenging.
Therefore, it is vital they do not leave Texas empty-handed when they take on the Houston Dash. Gotham FC will have a challenge ahead of them, for this will not be the same Dash team they faced in 2024. The home side has improved the roster significantly in the offseason, leading to more competition and likely more wins.
Additionally, this will be a reunion game. Three former Gotham FC players who were with the Bats last year now play for Houston: Yazmeen Ryan, Delanie Sheehan, and Abby Smith. Ryan and Smith were traded during the offseason while Sheehan shockingly left via free agency. Many fans hoped the midfielder would remain with the club, but sadly that did not happen. So, it will be interesting to see what happens when the former teammates play against the current squad.
There is no question Gotham FC will have to step up against the Dash. The international break is next, so the Bats must ensure they do not head into the break without a win. While they won at Houston last year, it was not easy by any means. This weekend’s match is highly important, so the pressure will be at an all-time high.

Gotham FC’s growing pains have been seen in their first two matches. This was expected due to the drastic roster changes. However, the Bats seemed more together in last week’s game. Perhaps the chemistry will improve faster than initially thought, which should help with the team’s play on the pitch.
